Multi-use vial. This 3 mL vial can be drawn from more than once. The 0.9% benzyl alcohol preservative inhibits bacterial growth between draws, so the remainder can be stored and used for later reconstitutions.
Bacteriostatic Water, USP is a sterile diluent for reconstitution, preserved with 0.9% benzyl alcohol. The preservative prevents bacterial growth inside the vial, which is what allows a single vial to be used for more than one reconstitution rather than being discarded after the first.
This 3 mL size is the practical option when you are reconstituting a single compound or a small number of vials — enough solvent for the work in front of you without committing to a 30 mL multi-dose vial that may sit unused. Draw the required volume and store the remainder at room temperature.
